Located near Como city, this enchanting rural retreat has been lovingly restored to create a cosy atmosphere, complimented by simple, but traditional, country furnishings.
During you stay you will have the opportunity to taste genuine products and specialties of the Lombardy region. In addition to this, you can easily visit the picturesque Lake Como and the famous art city of Milan. In the winter you also have the opportunity to ski nearby, which the hotel accommodates by offering equipment to rent.
With a homely feeling throughout, the comfortable rooms, some with fire places, offer panoramic views over the surrounding countryside from the windows. In the same property the guests can enjoy our trekking route and our fitness area.

Simple, country-style furnishings complete the rooms, of which there are 12 Double Rooms, with bathrooms, 7 with a fireplace.
All rooms are completely self-contained, and some have balconies or terraces.
Food & beverage
Al-Marnich prides itself on its freshly-prepared organic health food, with home grown, locally-grown or organic produce.
It offers traditional recipes prepared with a touch of artistic flair, as well as various specialities cooked in a traditional wood oven.
And, to accompany all this, the well-stocked cellar provides a wide selection of high-quality sparkling wines and Oltrepo Pavese D.O.C.’s, all organically produced wines.
The restaurant will be open form 7.30pm to 9.30 pm and form 12.30am to 2pm.
Area information
From Al Marnich you are within easy reach of a vast number of tourist attractions, both in Italy and nearby Switzerland.
The Val d’Intelvi itself has a rich artistic heritage to explore, in addition to its natural beauty.
Lake Como (8km) has lots to offer: it is famous for its magnificent villas, botanical gardens and Romanesque churches. Do not miss Como, Isola Comacina (the only island on Lake Como), and only a short boat-ride awa from there is Villa Balbianello, Villa Carlotta ( and its famous gardens), Lenno, Menaggio, Gravedona, Bellagio and Varenna, to name but a few.
A couple of hours by car can take you to St. Moritz, whilst it is only 45 minutes to the lakeside city of Lugano in Switzerland and approximately one hour to Milan.
Once on the shores of Lake Como or Lugano, you can also enjoy the various boat-trips either on the Hydrofoil (Ali Scafo in Italian), or the more leisurely Battello. An alternative is the Traghetto (car ferry) which runs between Menaggio, Cadennabia, Bellagio, Varenna, enabling you to discover some of the other shores of Como Lake by car.
During the winter months, there are also skiing opportunities nearby, to facilitate this, the hotel offers skis, caving, boots and rackets for rent.
Travel information
Please note that Al Marnich is situated on a small hill, 8 km from Lake Como (Argegno) and 24 km from Como City.
By Car:
- Take the Milano-Como Motorway (A9).
- Exit at Como Nord.
- Follow signs for Menaggio (left at the big roundabout).
- Just before Argegno, follow signs for Schignano.
- From here, Al Marnich is clearly signed.
Please note: if using a GPS System, use the name Schignano and not the name of the street (Via Per Marnico).
