Die Umgebung
Milazzo appears as a strip of emerged land stretching out for about seven kilometres into the Tyrrhenian Sea towards the Aeolian Islands. The remains of a big river delta which is nearly 30 sq. Km, now become a wide and fertile plain, rich in water-tables, connect the peninsula to the Peloritani Mountains. Milazzo's promontory is a particularly interesting naturalistic area, thanks to its flora and fauna.
Cape Milazzo is rich in interesting naturalistic pathways set in the typical Mediterranean vegetation and winding among prickly pear cactus, caper plants, carob trees, etc. In this area the peregrine falcon nests. Milazzo town is made up of an old part, or upper town, situated on the promontory to the north and culminating in the medieval castle, and by a modern part.

Milazzo can be easily reached by any means of transport.
By car:
the town is connected with Messina and Palermo - from which it is respectively 40 and 225 km away - via both SS 113 and A20 (Milazzo-Isole Eolie exit).
By sea it can be reached by ships from Messina and Naples;
By train:
Messina and Palermo are the closest railway stations.
The nearest airports are the "Minniti" in Reggio Calabria and the "Fontanarossa" in Catania.
