You can walk down the heart of the city crossing the Pescheria, the ancient fish market located behind the Piazza Duomo. The building was a noble abode that from 1924 housed a glassworks factory. Hotel service enjoying the most homely intimacy and comfort.

The residence hotel La Vetreria, from the beginning of XX century, was an artistic mirror manifacture with the apatments of its owner's family on the upper floors.In 2003 it was refurbished keeping the cosy and friendly atmosphere of the sicilian houses belonging to that period. Alla the hand-made accessories show a special care. It is going to be a pleasant surprice discovering in the hall, a decorated altar, dedicated to Catania's patron Saint: Saint Agata. At the first floor, there are two wonderful drawing rooms with original frescos, whee take place meetings, parties in a subtle ammospere. A big terrace, facing on the big square of the medieval Ursino Castle, completes the big drawing rooms apartment.

The residence La Vetreria is shared into 13 apartments with a total of 22 rooms. Also in these rooms, as in the whole house, you can notice a special care for details just to make the sty really comfortable. As in the past, the lamps, the curtains and hand-made cuscins make the already warm rooms, very charming and pleasant.

At La Vetreria breakfast is a special moment so that you will find every morning a rich buffet with cakes and croissants, baked bread with butter and marmelade, yogurth, cheese, short bread, fruit juices and owning the right season, fresh orange juice, capucinos, coffee, tea and more and more...Unfortunately we do not have a restaurant within our residence, but we will be glad to show you, if you desire to book, some typical restaurants, specialized in fish dishes, pubs and international restaurants. Really close to the residence La Vetreria, of course!

The Residence La Vetreria, is located in the historic centre of Catania, next to the medieval Ursino castle.
Walking around you can recognize the rich sicilian baroque in the palaces and monuments, the UNESCO patrimony. Passing through La Pescheria, the ancient market, behind the Dome where we can find the monument dedicated to the elephant, curious symbol of Catania.Keeping on walking you can admire the wonderful street full of churches, the Crociferi one, the greek theatre, the Dante's square where there's the great monastry of benedectines, today site of the University,admirable fountains,museums dedicated to the characters that with their art made our city famous:Vincenzo Bellini, Giovanni Verga, Emilio Greco.
Travel information
Catania Messina (A18) highway or from Catania Airport take the Porto exit and reach Piazza Borsellino.Turn left Via Mulino S. Lucia, then right Via Colombo and left again into Via Plebiscito. Go along and at the crossroads with Via Grimaldi (there is a bank at the corner), turn right. Our residence is a few metrers along on your left. Once you reach La Vetreria you can park your car in our private garage, about 200 m. far.
From Catania Fontanarossa airport o Main Station: take the AMT n°457 bus and get off in Piazza Borsellino. Then walk to Via Plebiscido, reach the croassroads with Via Grimaldi. La Vetreria is a few metrers on your left (ticket costs € 0,80. It can be bought at the sales points where you see AMT sign).
